Call for volunteers to help at arts event

Be part of Scarborough’s Splendid Day Out - The organisers of next month's one-day arts spectacular in Scarborough are looking for volunteers to be part of the exciting event.

Coastival's Rather Splendid Day Out will be held on Saturday 11th February and will feature a great line-up of music, theatre, comedy and much more.

Coastival needs a team of around 18 volunteers to help run the day and wants to hear from anyone who is interested.

Volunteer Co-ordinator Helen Berry said volunteers were needed for three parts of the day.

"We will need seven volunteers between 11.45am and 5pm and 14 people for the 5pm to 10pm shift," she said.

"For those with great stamina, we need four people to stay on duty between 10pm and 2am for Craig Charles and Band in the Spa Grand Hall.

"So if you would like to be part of the team apply as soon as possible to make sure you don't miss out."

Anyone interested in performing arts might want to help out with the Slung Low performance from 6pm to 7pm at Scarborough Spa.

To find out more about volunteering or to request an application form please email helen@create.uk.net

The Slung Low performance is one of the highlights of the Splendid Day Out. At 6pm at the Spa Sun Court, Slung Low will present Darkness at the Sun Court, the first of five pieces to be performed at arts festivals across North Yorkshire under the collective name Converging Paths.

The Splendid Day will also include a marathon 10 and a half hours of live music on offer at the Acoustic Lounge at the Spa Vitadome from 12noon to 10.30pm. Acclaimed local band ISHKA will lead a host of local talent.

Other highlights will include new comic talent on stage in the Comedy Gala at The Spa Theatre from 8pm and the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club music event at The Spa Grand Hall from 10pm.

A special early bird ticket enables arts lovers to enjoy both the Comedy Gala and The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club event for just £15 - a saving of £3.

Throughout the day there will also be art exhibitions and installations at a wide range of venues including local galleries.

There will also be art, dance and music sessions and workshops for children and young people during the Rollercoastival February Fiesta.
